Experimentation in Action Part II
You have a great idea, now, you just need to test it to make sure it works!
Keep in mind: Who is your customer? What need are you meeting? What problem are you solving? What is their JTBD and is your idea helping it get done?
Before you experiment your idea, you need to know…

-
What needs to be true for your idea to be successful? What behaviour do your Customers' need to exhibit for you to feel confident that your idea will be a success. Does success look like 20% more people will fill out that form? Does success look like more kids dialling into Starlight TV? Does success look like our volunteers being more engaged with the program?
-
Define the parameters of a successful experiment before you start, then judge your success against that.
-
Your experiment should be lean and nimble! Use an MVP (Minimum Viable Product) to test your idea.
-
Your MVP should test your idea using the minimum amount of time, money and resources.

For example, the Program Development Team are testing the concept of a Virtual SER. Instead of bringing in an expensive, third-party software developer, they've built a cheap landing page using Wix that can be tweaked and edited by the team every day based on kids feedback and behaviour. If it comes time to implement, they'll know exactly what needs to be included - and will have gained learnings at a very low cost and risk!

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
Create a version of your idea that looks like the real thing, but is cheap and manual in the back end.
