Before you start your Ideation Session...

• Know what the most important JTBD are.

• Know who your most important customers are, and therefore who you're generating solutions for.

• Clearly share your Challenge Statement to make sure everyone is on the same page. ​

 

Ideation Sessions...here's how to do it! ​

Preparation is key, here are a few preparation tips to consider! ​

• Setting the Scene: There are some things that are scientifically proven to improve people's creativity and get them thinking outside the box:

  • Warm colours! Have warm colours like yellow, red and orange in the room or get people to wear warm coloured clothes. 

  • Plants and green things! Surround yourself with nature - even pictures of nature will do. 

  • Stimuli! Place toys or random objects on the tables in your workroom to stimulate new connections and get people thinking laterally. 

  • External guests: Invite an external to participate for fresh perspectives. It might be someone from a different team, or someone from outside Starlight. ​

  • Glove: Give people your Challenge Statement or JTBD ahead of time and ask them to record any ideas they have. Good ideas often come when we are doing other things!
